Learning - Ignite Power Platform Developer Challenge - Chance to obtain a free exam this November 2021

Following from the Ignite conference earlier this month, a highlight is the "Cloud Skills Challenge". This offers a free certification exam for those who complete the challenge, and this post provides more details.

The Ignite conference provided plenty of interesting content, including the "Cloud Skills Challenge". If you complete one of the available challenges by the end of November 2021, you'll be eligible for a free certification exam.

To access the cloud skills challenge, register on the Microsoft Ignite page through the following link:

Once you register, you can access the challenges by clicking the Learning Zone > Cloud Skills Challenge menu item.




The cloud skills challenge provides a structured way to access the training modules that are available through the Microsoft Learn site.

For Power App Builders, the most relevant challenge is the "Power Platform Developer Challenge". This challenge includes the 23 training modules shown below and covers a wide range of topics including Dataverse, canvas apps, model driven apps, portal apps, and administration.

  2. Customize a canvas app in Power Apps
  3. Manage apps in Power Apps
  4. Introduction to model-driven apps and Dataverse
  5. Create tables in Dataverse
  6. Get started with model-driven apps in Power Apps
  7. Configure forms, charts, and dashboards in model driven apps
  8. Manage Microsoft Power Platform deployments
  9. Administer Microsoft Power Platform subscriptions
  10. Manage Dynamics 365 clients
  11. Microsoft Power Platform Mobile management
  12. Get started with Power Automate
  13. Build more complex flows with Power Automate
  14. Use the Admin center to manage environments and data policies in Power Automate
  15. Use AI Builder in Power Automate
  16. Optimize your business process with process advisor
  17. Power Apps portals administration
  18. Integrate Power Apps portals with web-based technologies
  19. Authentication and user management in Power Apps portals
  20. Power Apps portals maintenance and troubleshooting
  21. Access Dataverse in Power Apps portals
  22. Extend Power Apps portals
  23. Build custom Power Apps portals web templates

Once you complete the challenge, you'll receive a voucher for a free exam in December. One of the eligible exams of interest for Power App Builders is the PL-400 exam. This exam measures the following tasks (taken from the PL-400 syllabus beneath):

  • Create a technical design;
  • Configure Common Data Service;
  • Create and configure Power Apps;
  • Configure business process automation;
  • Extend the user experience;
  • Extend the platform;
  • Develop integrations

The cloud skills challenge offers a great learning opportunity, and I would recommend taking a look at this before the end of the month.
